Default Brown Trouser time

Took the SV out for a blast, going to meet a mate in a village 20 miles down the road, open her up, oil seal on the oil filter blew out, oil all over the rear wheel, me,engine, huge cloud of smoke behind me, shut off, wibble wobble fishtail, lucky I was going straight and not on a bend. The guy who checked my shims and did an oil and filter change had put the filter on with a twist in it or something, the seal was hanging out squirting a jet of oil 15 feet from the bike!! nice man! so much for a blast on a sunny day, called the breakdown and bike now at home awaiting a new filter and some oil INSIDE the engine!
Lovely day!!

Steve

...which reminds me, Suzy needs an oil and filter change for her MOT. Shes been sat so long the seal on the filter has perished, and the filter is rusty, so shes been dripping oil.

Somehow I don't want what has happened to you Steve. Glad it was only brown trousers hun!

Kudos for staying upright. There is something to be said for doing your own servicing.

Well done for not going down in said cloud of smoke.
Sounds like the same lot that works at the Suzuki dealer here.
Glad you're OK. That could have well ended badly.

Blinking hell Steve, glad to hear that you are OK.

One would suggest a quiet word with the spanner wielding monkey who did your bike for you, especially given how much they charged. Maybe even going down a legal route would help given that there could also be damage to your trusty steed due to oil starvation.

I would suggest not getting physical though, in the modern age, legal costs hurt way more than a broken leg or three!

Default Pics of the scary moment

Heres how it looked...
Apparently the muppet took off the old filter, left the oil seal stuck on the crankcase and put the new filter and seal on top of it!
Any wonder it blew out the old seal?

You can clearly see on the first pic the seal hanging out...
