So my phone went missing yesterday in J&S in Northwich... it was reported lost to Vodafone and has been disabled etc.
It is not insured (well it is but house insurance has £200 xs - missed that one grrr!) so I'm faced with the question of what to do now. My current thinking is to use my good old Nokia 6210 with a free replacement SIM from Vodafone until I can upgrade my contract in June. This will be an early 'in contract' upgrade and will probably involve some bending over... My contract runs out in September. Do you young phone savvy types have any other ideas for getting me back on air? Internet is not important at the moment (will be at upgrade time) but it would be nice to be able to send/receive pictures, so I'd be looking at getting another phone I guess? |

It may work out as cheap to get a new contract now and just pay off the old one if it comes with a new phone. Are you only wanting Vodaphone or would you switch?

i know you said its not insured, but just out of interest do you have a bank account or something similar that gives free insurance for mobiles? It might have just slipped your mind

Really would like to stay with Vodafone. Due to signal problems at home, I use their SureSignal femtocell to provide me with mobile coverage in the house. However, I heard that Orange mobiles can use your wi-fi to make calls now? (need to check that out with the man in the pub
![]() Cheers Keith, but I know for sure I have no such freebies. |

I'm with Vodafone, you can actually upgrade up to 70 days before your contract expires, i have done this for both mine and my wifes fone, its easy all they do is add the new contract on top so your contract will still run till sept then automatically switch over to the new one. Just means if you get a 24 months contract its more like a 26 month contract.

Yeah Vodafone have been pushing that for a while to me Davey. The trouble is I'll end up with a VERY long contract and/or have to pay out a chunk of cash for a new phone. I can upgrade for little upfront outlay in June (I think this is the 70 day rule), but will not be able to negotiate a good deal on the price of the new contract as I will still be under contract to them for the lost phone...

Try these guys as I said - http://www.buymobilephones.net/mobil...,ct1?s=6&d=ASC
The did my T-Mobile Upgrade 30 days early (as T-Mobile allow), but got me the Xperia Play that T-Mobile couldn't supply, and it came not locked to any Network. They also got me 10% off my monthy bill. See what they can do for you. Oh and I would recommend the Xperia Arc ![]()

I have taken a look at that site and it looks like they may be able to help me, so many thanks SK.
I have just got my new SIM card through and now have a working a phone using my Nokia 6210i. I'll use this for the next month until my upgrade date comes around then see what I can get from Vodafone / Buymobile website then. From the other mobile thread I'm fancying an HTC Sensation but may stick to an HTC Desire HD cos it may be cheaper than a Sensation. Sony Experia ARC will also be looked at when the time comes. |
