I had one done years ago, insurance paid, didn't cost me a penny.

Won't yours pay for a repair ? I was told generally ones over the size of a five pence coin can't be repaired, dunno how true that is but the technician told me that.

No usually it won't cost you a penny for a chip repair, you only need to pay the excess if the glass needs replaced. The insurance would rather you got chips repaired, so they don't end up paying out for a whole new windscreen when it goes crack.

It depends on the size of the chip and also I think the location - if it is right in your field of vision they will probably advise a new screen - they dod on my BMW but insurance paid for a new screen less something like a £50 excess.

some insurance companies will charge you £10 per repair as well. Mine certainly did, but much better that than the £60 for a new screen
