Default 1999 sv650 throttle slide problems

Hi guys, im new here and was hoping someone can help me out.
i bought a 1999 SV650 a coulpe of weeks ago that had been sat for over a year. cleaned it all up and MOT'd and on the road.

The bike ran ok but did hesitate sometimes and was using alot of fuel, so i decided to take the carbs off and give them a clean. ive done this many times before so didnt expect to many probs.

they were in a far worse state than i ever expected! both chokes were corroded and stuck (explains using alot of fuel!) and they were full of the usual dirt deposites and front carbs top wen removed was black! all jets etc were put in a ultrasonic bath and chokes and all as good as new, cabrs were throughly cleaned blown out and rebuilt.

when back on the bike it started fine but is spiting on tick over, i put vac gauges on to check the balance and there a mile out so removed the airbox to get the to the adjustment screw. this is when i noticed the problem. The front carbs slider is fluttering as it should at idle and when bliped opens and shuts as you would expect. the rear does nothing. its runnig on both cylinders as the exhaust are both getting hot. ive removed the diaphram and checked it, seems a ok and is all seated fine. the slider moves and returns freely by hand and now im stumped. carbs are all seated fine so i can work out y there seems to be no vacume getting up there. ive checked the hole under the carb top and sprayed cleaner down it and it seems to get through so im puzzeled.

any ideas would be great.

thanks in advance!

Simple things first. Is the butterfly valve operating ok when applying throttle.

Do you feel resistance when you push the slider up by hand, ie does it feel like the other one? You could try switching it with the other see if the problem moves (That if they are interchangeable)

Hi, thanks for the reply, yeah the butterfly is working fine and the slider is the same as the front in resistance. I will try switching them today, pretty sure they are the same. I will keep you posted

Cheers dave

Stop being pedantic. I sold your old restricter slides this week, they are with a lady in small heath, got the forum a new member at the same time.

Ill be stickin around, i used be on 400greybike alot when i had a vfr, i manufacture fly wheel conversion kits for the nc30 amongst other bit. Hope to sort something out for the sv bt the started gear being there makes it a little less straight forward

Ill be uprating bits soon though

Cheers

At 11 years and ~30k it should have gone by now. Even had to replace the (original) battery after 8 years...

Hurrah, got back what you paid for them I hope?

Using the GSXR1000 flywheel?

Biggest problem on the SV in comparison to the NC is that the pickups are off the flywheel not by themselves off the other end of the crank.
