Default There but for the grace....

Life really, really is so precious and sacred.

This weekend I have been involved with dealing with the very unexpected death of an 18 month old child. I cannot put into words how horrendous it's been and I can't stop the tears when they happen.

This weekend has by far been the most traumatic of my service and I cannot imagine the hurt and pain the parents, family and friends are feeling just now.

Please guys, don't get caught up in trivial things. Make sure your loved ones always know how much you love them because none of us know what is around the corner. Life really is sacred. And it is really, really cruel.

Sad to hear MBK.

I hope you carried out your duties well, with dignity for the family, the little things you say and do will stay with them forever.

I've sent you hugs in the other place, but you can have more here too

Just because your job involves having to show a blank calm face, don't mean you aren't squishy and human in the middle.

Been here too nic, mine was in my 10 week probation period so know exactly how you feel right now.... hugs.

It is horrid to watch a family torn apart infront if you and you can't show emotions, its only when you go hone and you get out of work mode does it play on your mind.

Thoughts go to the little one and the family x x x

Awww baby girl...big huggles and snuggles coming from the Stray house hunny. Yep, life is precious and can be gone in the blink of an eye. We humans were born with two things to help get us through these times though. One is the ability to find a strength we never knew we had and the other is the ability to gain comfort from the love and support of those around us.

Just know that...when, as a family you go through something like this...it is the people that are there, like you and all the nurses, doctors, paramedics etc. that do all the necessary work in such a sensitive and caring way that allow the families to grieve and process everything. What you do in those times Nic is amazing and it is all too easy for people to forget how it can affect you when you switch off.

Massive cuddles and thinking of you xxx
