Default Giving Up The Internet

After finding the internet a great source of procrastination over the last few months, i have been contemplating giving it up at home.

Only going to friends houses, cafes, restaurants, libraries etc in order to use wi-fi occasionally to check emails and what not. I can concentrate on more meaningful, constructive things at home without fannying about on Youtube, StumbleUpon, Facebook, news/sports sites and blogs.

Far better to get out of the house too, see the daylight in all it's glory, meet more people etc

So how unobtainable is my utopian dream? How internet orientated are you? Am i the only one that succumbs to the internet every time i try and settle down to something? Thoughts?

Got to say this is rather extreme, bit of self discipline would be a solution.
I use to be on my computer constantly playing online games and now dont play any.

good luck whichever you decide dude!

Completely unrelated ofcourse but reminded me of this news story

http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/12918531

Danger is with the dark nights and bad weather coming to vegetate infront of the telly/computer, so I switch to my winter hobbies round about this time. Bit of indoor 5 a side, squash, indoor climbing. Good exercise and gets you out the house

Self discipline is bloody hard for things involving concentration, for me anyway. I am crap at sticking to something for a long time unless my job or livelihood or something else really important is at stake.

Just thought i'd start a good ol' debate.

Self discipline is needed, not cold turkey. Mrs Metal is always surprised when we go away somewhere for the weekend and all I have is my phone, especially when we have a friend who brings more gadgets and stuff than clothing!

You can live without it, same as booze and everything else (lovely boooooze). The other day, my eyes were strained from work (starting at set of screens all day) so I took the evening off internet and games. It was odd at first but then I had a long hot bath, read a bit and listened to some music. Twas a pleasant change.
