Default Engineering Drawings

Im a second year Motorsport Technology student at Oxford Brookes University. This year we are doing 2 CAD projects on Solidworks. Im really interested in CAD and would like something extra curricular to do. I was wondering if the engineering drawings for an SV are available to download from anywhere? Preferably a curvy as that is what i have but it doesn't matter. It would be really cool to model the SV as practice using the software and also i might be able to use it in my final year project work.

Just trying!

Don't think so, people who've done trick frames and stuff have had to measure frame to see starting point.

What does your project involve?

I think you're better off measuring from an actual bike... nobody is going to have cad drawings.

Or you could ask suzuki!

Tried to find these myself a while back, I drew the line at calling Suzuki GB up and asking.
Measuring one myself was the only remaining option... I didnt bother.

might be able to get some useable info from the Microfiche slides.

All you need it one part in each drawing that is know dimensions and work from there...

I doubt they'd be anywhere near exactly scaled enough to make that work.

Yea, i guess you are right. I was hoping that maybe the curvy was old enough that they might have been leaked. A trick frame is an awesome idea for a final year project though.

My project this year is a boring yet useful screw pump. We were given the drawings and info on a badly designed one (in production) and our task is to first model it on solidworks and then improve it. The pump is being used as a tool to teach us more functions on the software and also project writing skills. We have to chose everything in our model down to seals, bearings, and materials.

After Christmas we are designing (with guidance obviously) a racing car suspension system and then we are setting it up (all on CAD) as far as I understand. But i haven't started that yet.

Unfortunately im not pulling my bike apart to measure it. Its just not going to happen. Plus im sure id **** some measurements up and id never get an accurate final drawing. Imagine trying to do the final assembly after weeks of making parts by eye

Thanks for the replys guys, ill have a word with some lecturers at uni over the next week or so and see if they have any ideas where i might look.

Surely if the frame is basicslly a tool for supporting an engine between 2 wheels. If you choose an engine and consider the mounting locations then the rest of it is completely optional. (you will obviously need to consider all manner of loading diagrams before making a successful frame though, don't expect a dot to dot to be the end of it).
