So how long should they take when buying a house, long story short, buying a house offer made and accepted in July, lots of faffing coz owners are two brother live far apart so difficult to get together.
So all is sorted but mortgage broker fluffs up saying they need more paperwork when they have had it all for 2 weeks already, now they are arranging the mortgage and surveys, how long should thins take on average, we;ve already been waiting nearly 4 months. |

Now in our 3rd house, all 3 have taken on average about 3 months from offer made to moving in, but the house were in now would have dragged on for months had my wife not been badgering solicitors, estate agents etc every 5 minutes.
Even the lady we bought the house off needed a rocket up her backside, she didnt want to move at all (marriage break up) so that could have ground it all to a halt had she not had very gentle prodding. |

4 months is an absolute disgrace, the money they charge they do a lot for it either.
House sales could be done in a few weeks if people communicated properly instead of taking a week to send everything by post, wait a week then reply and so on. |

Set a date and tell them you're pulling out if they don't hit it.

We've moved 5 times, and its never been longer than 6 weeks. One seller gave us a 4 week deadline, which we managed no bother.

The mortgage company are doing the survey?
That then will be a drive by, full of caveats like 'did not inspect drains, electricals, gas yada yada'. |

If all you have instructed them to do is a minimal survey (valuation) to cover their risk, then it should take minutes. They just look up the approx value and drive by to make sure the house really exists.
