Arrow Crash repairs, dent and scratch removal?

Well had my first off in a while yesterday, rear end left me in a corner then gripped and high sided me. Not too impressed. Managed to drag myself up and pick bike up off the road with oil departing from the engine thanks to a nice big 2 inch hole in the side

Resulting damage is a nice big dent in the tank along with bent bars, leavers, hole in the engine and scratches everywhere.

Just wondered what the deal is with removing dents from the tank? No holes in it just a good inch or 2 smaller then it was... Currently just have it masked up in the garage to re-paint it, but not sure if they can be removed or is it save up for new tank time?

Also any tricks or tips to remove scratches from the exhaust? Mainly on the metal parts at each end of it, the carbon seems to have got away without a mark!

You've been very lucky!
I'd be looking to get a new tank and respray that. I'm guessing its a Z750.
You may hit lucky on a ebay auction like I did on my fairing side

Cases I'd look at seeing if there is any Woodcraft cases (or similar) to replace the damaged ones

I think it has been done on here using a slide hammer to pull it back far as possible.
Its never possible to get it fully back as the metal's distorted.
Am I right in thinking there's 2 dents v.close together, also is there dent where your R/H Leg struck the tank?

although I've seen some very good repairs using the spot welded tab and slide hammer method, as you've dented across a seam it's unlikely you could get it back to original shape, the only way would be to actually dent it in and fill/reprofile back to shape.

as to the casing, if I remember right the casings were based on the ZX9, you maybe able to fit one of those, but you'd need to check, Oh and I'd look into crash bungs that actually worked.

Cheers Mark.

if your fully comp Id claim to be honest, as that is quite a lot of damage overall.

If not sorry to hear and glad your ok, I would source a second hand tank, and flog that one on ebay for people who do track days.

i agree with this. judging by the extent of what has been damaged there might be a lot more underlying damage-especially on the rear sub frame, chassis & engine.

Cheers for the replies, yer pretty bang on andrewsmith, i'm not expecting a perfect tank again, but to get the bigger dents out would be nice.

Sadly im not fully comp so all repairs are being done by myself. Have ordered a new engine casing from the US at just £24! Also some new bars and a set of engine bars! So far about £130 spent.

I dont think the impact was hard enough to damage the frame or sub-frame. But will look into it.

The crash bungs did a great job at defending the radiator but little else... Engine bars will be the way forward.

Kawasaki genuine crash bungs are notoriously crap - you're lucky they stayed on the bike and didn't just snap off like the Versys ones do.

Think they will be replaced with RnG ones when funds allow, teamed with engine bars i should be laughing!
