Hey folks,
Come the new bike season I want to try and improve the GSXRs braking performance. The bikes done roughly 11k miles, and am pretty sure it’s still using the stockpads and discs. I have already upgraded to HEL lines but I think braking could still be a tad better. InitiallyI want to start with some new pads. Reason for this is I don’t have too muchspare cash to play with these days. So could you kind Org folk recommend mesome good performance pads. I did have a look at EBC pads but I’ve read onplaces they can warp discs. So my next choice would be either Brembo pads orGalfer pads. Hopefully these should provide a bit more bite than the stockstuff. Can I use these pads on the stock discs too or would I need to buy replacement discs togo with the new pads?? I’ve read somewhere you can sand down the discs a littleand that should help new pads bead in better but not sure if its true or not.If I need new discs I was looking at PFM discs as they seem quite good and lookwell made. Has anyone used PFM stuff and how would you rate it! Many thanks http://www.thestopshop.co.uk/

1000K8 stock pads and discs are very good, the issue is the master cylinder.
Accossato (bikersdiscountstore) sell the radial 19x20 master cylinders and pot kits, excellent master cylinders but half the cost of Brembo ones. Also check your pads arent glazed and ensure the pistons are clean and moving freely. Plenty of people race using suzuki stock pads as they are sintered anyway. The stock discs are also very good, I only ever used std ones on my supersport bike and they got a hammering!. |

Crivvens you must want to stop quick----GSXR's brakes are good to begin with and I agree with SV Racer on a good overhaul and possibly new pads

I updated the master cylinder when I had GSXR 600K2 (I went Brembo as I had come across Accossato). I think it made the biggest difference (more than the EBC wavy discs, HEL lines and SBK pads I had already fitted) not just to bite and power but the feel all the way through braking. A good service, new brake fluid and grease up those pistons.

As others have said. Upgrade the master cylinder.
