Default The IAM strikes again

Personally, I have nothing against the IAM (although the Top Gear IAM driving actions made the little boy in me laugh a lot) but they do seem shoot themselves in the foot quite frequently.

Didnt even bother clicking on the link when I saw Motorcyclenews in the link.
What a load of rubbish they seem to come out with on a regular basis.

For once though, mcn seems to be accurate.

I started a thread last week regarding the 4% drop in motorcycle ksi's.

I can put money on that the mileage covered is higher than normal

I acknowledge that the IAM have been a little bit crafty with the statistics, but that's not exactly new with any group campaigning for a particular aim. What is a shame is that MCN failed to include exactly why the IAM are releasing these figures which is at the end of the press release.

“The increase in motorcycling casualties is worrying especially while casualties among car drivers continue to fall. The government needs to ensure that education campaigns targeting motorcycling continue and funding is made available for local initiatives. The police and councils must continue to work together to improve high risk routes, encourage post test training and target bad riding behaviour through innovative enforcement techniques.”

I know as riders none of of believe we can do wrong and personally I'm not in favour of using legislation to sort it, but the reality is that the vast majority of riders could do a whole lot better than they do at the moment. The IAM happen to believe better training is the way forward, and I support that.

Im not so convinced about "innovative enforcement techniques"though. That smacks of big brother satelite surveillance and more "management" from the great and good.We can all do without that.
Must go and watch Enemy of the State again.

Or it could just mean getting police officers out and about catching the offenders. It's been so long since that happened it could be considered "innovative".......

I'd rather they left me alone, tbh. I've spent years honing my bad riding behaviour and I like to think I've pretty much got the hang of it.
