Default Universal baffles?

Hi guys,

Right, so I bought a blueflame exhaust for my SV (cheers srobrien ), it sounds lovely but it is too loud, bordering on obnoxious. And being the nice guy I am, want to shut it up a bit.

I have read lots on here about people recommending universal baffles, mostly from eBay. So, does anyone have any experience of any of them. How much quieter do they make the can, how easy are they to fit and all that.

Any help is much appreciated..

I recently bough something similar to this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DB-KILLER-...#ht_5652wt_922

As I misplaced the one that came with my can. Easy to fit as there was already a hole at the bottom of the outlet to put the bolt through, but wouldn't be hard to drill a hole in the right place.

Quietens the exhaust down, but not as much as the standard one did.

bought one of these as well i think for beowulf oval can and it did the job. just remember, baffles consist of two parts: the tube part as well as packing inside the tube. i havent packed mine but its quieter with this in it. Brillo pads apparently make good packing material and cheap.

I didnt know exhausts even came without packing in.

How much quieter is it with just the tube, i would rather not take the can apart to repack it if possible.

Very difficult to quantify how much quieter it makes it. Also you have a different can to me, and depends on the condition of the packing.

But with mine it goes from being what I think is too loud when starting in my street at 6am, to a level that I think is just about quiet enough not to wake/annoy the crap out of my neighbours if I keep the revs down....this is all subjective and my opinion of course. What you think to be too loud could be completely different.

Too loud = annoying everyone I ride past with the slightest blip of the throttle/waking all my elderly neighbours when leaving for work.

It sounds like a universal tube is the way to go, but if that doesnt do the trick it will be time to repack I guess.

How about contacting blue flame?

My mate Sergio had a pair of universal baffles in the blue flame cans on his Falco (same outlet style as yours) and they did quieten it down but they rattled like hell no-matter what he did to try and get them secure... The only cure was to take them back out and let that big V-twin sing it's song, they also cost it a lot of power, so he says.

I got a replacement baffle direct from blueflame when I lost the original. Had to really cause it was the twin port outlet (evo) and I couldn't seem to find a universal option that was appropriate size.
It cost me £30 posted but they also sent the circlip that holds it in so no drilling of holes required like the universal ones. Took about 4 days to arrive.

Copied my comments from your wants page Made it more friendly for the neighbours but sounded good once you opened it up.
On my Renegade Carbon exhaust I bought one from these guys http://www.performanceracingparts.co.uk/ prices have gone up a bit now about £20 inc postage. It was easy to fit, just had to drill small hole on the bottom of tailpipe.
