My 33BHP restriction is up in about four weeks, so being a good girl I phoned my insurance company (CIA) to find out where they stand with declaring my turning full power back on. The young lass was very helpful, but had to check it out. A few seconds later she is back with the answer. No worries, did not even have to tell them that I was going to do it.
![]() Then came the stinger. My NO FAULT accident, when the woman I work with ran my bike over, has counted against me as a claim. I have there for lost any No claims Bonus that I had gathered. I have explained that I was not at fault, that I was legally parked in a private car park and that the lass failed to use her mirrors. Even so, I was "involved" (despite being away from the bike at the time!) in an accident and have therefore made a claim! Bunch of thieving Gits the lot of them. I warned my friend of this when she told me that she wanted to go through the insurance, but she assured me that it would not. Seems I was right to worry. ![]() |

May be of interest to you or not-----when I had to have my bike recovered and lost my NCB I claimed for the loss of NCB value against the other insurance and won. It was hassle but I got it in the end.

You only lose your NCB if you claim against your own insurance.
If you've not claimed then you should not lose your NCB. But your insurance will go up a bit because you were involved in an accident. (regardless of who's fault it was) |

Just being involved in an accident whoever is to blame forms part of your driving history and they will load your premium because of it.You should still have your NCD but it will be based on a higher basic premium so the overall cost goes up.As always ![]()

Should never accept what a driver says always go through there insurance unless they are willing to pay for all damage caused. Once had my bike knocked over when parked too they didnt want to go through insurance but wouldnt let me get some independent quotes as they wanted to do it themself. Did once knock over a bike myself luckly the lad wanted the money for repairs instead so no need for insurance.

sticky one as technically you were not at the scene and not involved in an 'accident' and never claimed against your insurance. it was a third party (you) claim for damages that were not the result of an accident.
fight them.. |

There's a few possibilities Jayne.
If you claimed on your own insurance your NCD will be reinstated once your insurer recovers their costs from the third party insurer. If you claimed direct from the TP insurer then your insurers were obviously told about the incident. Maybe by you? They might have set up a claim and, although they haven't paid anything, this could be affecting you. If your bike's now sorted then you can withdraw this "claim" and get your bonus back. If you used an accident management company they routinely inform your own insurers (so they can get some cash back for repairs if the TP claim fails). Same advice as above to sort that out. Give them a call and see what's happened. If there was no claim on your own insurance then your NCD will be unaffected. HTH |

Finally sorted out, NCB is now back in place for my three years. I have had written confirmation of my no claims, but it is noted that I have been involved in an accident, but was not at fault! These things are worth chasing and the people I have been dealing with at CIA were helpful, even if I did not fully understand what they were talking about at times!
I am however concerned that in July, when I have to renew, the price is going to have risen. Not fair... ![]() |

I'm with CIA & found them very helpful, they compared my restrictor to bennets & beat them by almost a grand.
Bennetts wanted you to tell them it was restricted & loaded your premium. CIA already knew i was restricted but told them anyways. Spoke to Jamie there, very helpful. Said i was allowed to do as many mods as i wanted aslong as it didnt effect the performance by over 7bhp. |
