Guys and girls,
I'm gonna service my bike next month - is a K&N air filter worth the money? Is it as much of an improvement as the manufacturer leads you to believe? Cheers, Cris. |

From everything I've read on here save your money
Think the Pipercross & BMC filters are better, but I can't testify to this as I've got a curvy But mines got a BMC filter

if you plan on keeping the bike for a loooong time than yes they are worth the money. don't think of it as a bhp gain think of it as not having to buy a new filter ever again.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-N-Elemen...item19c4db88e0 best price i could find. |

Personally I prefer the extra filtration of the original over a small cost saving.

The road replacement K&N, BMC etc dont flow that much more than the std one as the std one flows well as it is. The main benefit of the K&N is that it is cleanable.
Its only when you go to race spec filters on the injected SV that you see a difference but this generally is only with airbox mods and fueling changes. |

Cheers chaps. As the bike is being sold this summer (very sadly due to work), I'll just get a standard replacement then. If it made much of a difference I'd have bought a pro replacement.
Thanks. |

Planning on having my ecu remapped soon anyway and will have the sv1000 snorkel on, so is the race filter a better choice then? Are they cleanable too?

For road use just use the road replacement OEM or road replacement K&N/BMC. Proper race filters will let in too much dirt for no more appreciable gain.
