Default Is this a K5 or a K6?

My mum has recently purchased an SV1000. She got a vehicle status report for it: the model is listed as an SK5, it was registered in may '06 and the year of manufacturer is '06.

I can understand the registering bit, but how can it be an SK5 but have the year of manufacturer listed as 2006? Is it as simple as a 2005 design made in early 2006 before the K6 proper was released?

Could be. They didn't sell that quickly, so finding one that had hung about a bit before getting registered isn't unusual.

don't pay attention to YOM as it could have been sitting in a suzuki warehouse until released to the dealer.

Actually, I've mentioned it to her a few times, but she normally sends me here to ask any questions she may have.

Plus, in this company... I'm not so sure...

The difference between the K5's and K6's was a different selection of colours.

So, other than having an "out of date" colour your mother's bike will be exactly the same as a K6 even if it is a K5.

The only major differences with Thou's came between K3's and K4's, with the sub frame, exhaust and seat & between K4's and K5's with a different coloured frame.

I did explain to her that the difference would be minimal at best between K5 and K6, but seeing this will put her mind at ease as she begins to order various parts for it. Cheers guys.
