Default Yamaha SZR660 opinions?

Not a "what bike now" type question, someone mentioned this name recently so I thought to look it up.

Looks kinda similar to the SV, on paper it's 10kg lighter and 16bhp down on power...

Anybody owned one?

I had 2 once upon a time. A tuned one (62bhp) and a standard one (38bhp).

They are pretty small and I found it too cramped for me (I'm about 5ft11). The standard one was nice enough but the SV is a better bike in my opinion. The tuned one was fantastic fun and quicker to 90mph than my mates GSXR750(srad). However, forget about much more after 90 which made it fun round Pembrey but the straight was a bit too long.

For an hours blast on the right roads they are great but you'd probably have just as much fun on an SV and it would be easier to live with.

Spend the money on an SV and some decent suspension instead.

But that's just my opinion!

The looks are an acquired taste but underneath it's a TZR125RR which is pretty close to a TZR250 V-twin so the bodywork can be swapped without too much grief.

These are ugly things but as they are based on tzr 125 frame they make a good bike to enter into supermono racing. Ditch that bodywork for something racier and you have a nimble, punchy little race bike!
