Default Please VOTE today!!!

It's local election day - these people probably have more influence on your day to day life and services than the MPs.

No matter who you vote for make sure you turn up!

I do vote, and I think about why I vote. But, while we are on the subject I'll vent a little.

What really annoys me is the sheer effort and air time devoted to slagging off the opposition. I want to know what each candidates plans are, what experience they have, justification for their planned approach etc.

Instead of relevant information I get a ton of leaflets telling me how cr@p somebody else is.

If you don't like any of the candidates then go and put a big cross through all of them.... They record the number of spoiled ballots - To me thats better than the appathy that comes across with a 30% turn out.

I went in at 8 when the polls had been open an hour and I was only the third person to vote.

Agree entirely Tommy.

If all the people who said "it doesnt matter because so and so will never get voted in anyway" actually turned up to vote, they might just stand a chance.

And like you say, if they dislike the candidates cross all the boxes.

How does it work with the new in order of preference numbers system, presumably a cross anywhere is a spoiled paper now?

I think so, but they might assume that you just didn't understand how the ballot paper works and got confused. I suggest that, to remove all doubt, you spoil your paper by writing **** against each candidates name.
