Default Samsung Galaxy Ace

Anyone got one?

I am looking for one for my son, I want to get him an Android phone on a capped contract for £15 a month. I have the S2 so I know the galaxy range are good.

I got one on Sunday, as did my daughter. Battery life is dismal yes, but then most smartphones are. Have got no comparison personally but it's fine for what I need and my 15yo seems happy too. Not cutting edge but the satnav using Google Maps works well enough so far (what I wanted it for) and call clarity seems fine, links straight to wi-fi and all that.

If you want a capped contract have a chat with Carphonewarehouse. Mine is £7.50 for 250 mins, 5k texts and 500MB of data. The Ace is free on this tariff at the moment.

Route 66 is a good nav app.
If you register you can download UK map to the sd card.

That's what I was looking at, been into CFW and they say they can cap at £10min so still a good deal and it means he can only go over by £2.50 which is ideal as an 'emergency' buffer.

This deal is only available until Friday so will speak with him tonight.

Tesco Mobile also do capped tariffs they do the same phone for £15 per month but you get 500mins, same text and same data, not sure 250 extra mins is worth twice the price tho as he mainly uses it for texts and FB etc and uses whatsapp for talking to his mates.

Yes, my wife has an Ace, I have an S2. I think its a great little phone, and I find the touch keyboard easier to use and more accurate to the touch than my S2. Despite my phone having a far superior processor, I've never found the Ace to be particularly slow.

One thing re the ace. Daughter no 1 like me has a desire S.

The wife uses my phone to video talk to daughter no 1 for hours using domestic wifi/internet. She then tried with daughter no 2 with a Galaxy Ace and failed as there was no forward camera.

I don't think my son will have an issue, he mainly uses it for social networking and lives with us so no need for video calls. He had an Iphone 3GS on PAYG with GiffGaff which has died and he can't afford to have it repaired or replaced so we opted for new phone on contract.
