Default Best Air Cooled Single Options?

I'm looking for a cheapish air cooled single. Any recommendations, perhaps something tunable for the road , XT600 springs to mind.

Manx or 7R.

if you can get your hand on one, try a rotax 500 (as fitted to the MT500 and others) fair bombproof and all the bits are out there to lift it to 791cc and 70bhp, little "old school" now but secondhand lumps are cheap.

real old school, a JAP 500 single is the daddy.

Cheers Mark.
