right i know you can paint an engine ,"special" heat resistant paint is used

is it possible to have a candy paint (think tam sv red) on a engine and still use the engine ( for the smart ar5es) without it just melting ,cracking, turning to sh1te

i await your full intelligant responces, followed by the simple laymans answer most likely on page 7

Yes in a word

cannot remember the company name but they use high temp paint and use house of colour paint which is all sorts of funky !

The side covers on mine are painted with Hammerite and have been no problem.

I touched up the block on my previous curvy with a rattle can with normal automotive paint and it was fine too so I'd certainly give it a go on a water cooled engine.

I think I'd stick to high temp paint on an air-cooled lump though.

There was a curvy flagged one here for sale with painted heads and Cylinders.
Dont think it was a pearl candy, but whatever the paint colour is it'll need to be a high temp formula

Answer me this.

If you put a car painted in candy red out in the baking sun, where temperatures can exceed that of your engine, for instance the desert.....would it melt, crack and fall off?

No, because its formulated to withstand such. So in answer to your question. It is possible to paint a motorcycle engine in car paint, provided it is done correctly. Not necessarily high temp paint either.

I asked in a paintshop once
