So i bought myself a hack for the winter a 1999 honda deauville for £300, needed a bit of work but last week thursday all was done and I switched my insurance over and put the sportster in the garrage ( yes i know, i own a sportster)
So Saturday comes around and the deauville start making a rather loud knocking noise, short story no coolent + overheating engine = problems. Not to worry it didn't cost me that much and at least I have a winter project now (ever the optomist) That brings me to today as swinton have been closed, damn bank holidays, call up to switch the insurance back to the Massey davidson only to be told that axa will not cover me on it, even though I was up until thursday evening. Turns out that the harley has 'dropped out of category' and so i am unisurable with axa on it. After much debate and frustration i thought i would check for new cover, cheapest quote on go compare was back with Swinton and you would never guess who the underwriters are, yep good old axa. Cue yet another rather annoyed phone call to be told that there is no possible way that they can insure me and that the online system is 'different' I am now waiting for a call back as swinton are going to see if they can force the change on the system, lets just say the i don't have high hopes So i now have an insured bike that i cannot ride and an uninsured bike i can ![]() Rant over... |

I'm going to assume that's somewhat tongue in cheek, because when I've been at the side of the road chatting to the police they've always done a check on my plate and the DVLA's data
![]() Whether or not it helps you now, I found a multi-bike policy wasn't much more than the policy for my highest group bike anyway. Obviously when you took out the policy you only had the one bike, but it might be worth checking whether you can add additional bikes later when you next take out a policy, I always do, even if I've only got one bike at the time. Because insurance is a compulsory thing! Pretty much means the industry can do whatever the hell it likes.
