Default Heavy Vibration Through The Handle Bars

Hi Guys

Ive noticed a strange vibration not only on acceleration but also on revving the bike whist at a standstill. The vibration feels like a shudder one would feel on the steeringwheel of a car. Ive checked engine mounts, exhaust, removed the fromt fairings to check if anythings loose, but no joy. The vibration comes up through the handlebars, almost like an improperly balanced tyre.

I ve searched the forums but coudnt find anything substtantial. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hmmmmm... pretty hard to diagnose a vibration at the best of times but without knowing which bike you have or rany mod history it makes it nothing more than a guess, i would suggest you put up your locatiion and hope someone local is willing to help.

I think it's a 2000 SV650s - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAap7...2&feature=plcp and Croyden would appear to be the location.

From the video, the bar end weights appear to be in place so you can rule that out. Out of balance carbs may possibly be one source of vibration, you could try looking at that.

the OP doesn't have to guess what model/history or where he is, he's the one wanting help, shouldn't be up to others to find it all out, besides at the top of the section are guidelines for posting for help, it's the very least he can do

Thanks for that Garynortheast.
Guys please forgive my error by not putting up the relevant bike info. No Excuse, but had put up the post after doing a full week of 13 hr shifts plus an hours travelling. Once again appologies.

After having installed the restrictor washers, the vibration seems to have become less aggressive both under riding conditions as well as idle revving. The bike also feels a lot smoother on acceleration. Not sure exactly how this would factor in the diagnosis.

Is it firing on both spark plugs? Maybe one of them is oily? If its not firing on both then it will run roughly/lumpy. If the engine is running fine but it's still lumpy and causing a vibration i can only think that something has worked loose.

How long have you had the bike and has it just started?

@ urbanfireblade, firing on both sparkplugs. @ monkey, have the bike just over a week. It started becoming prominent about 4 days ago. Seems to have abated quite a bit with the restrictors on. Would balancing the carbs help. Would an excess fuel flow cause a vibration?
