Default Dash light bulbs (SV650s, '02)?

Hey guys,

few days ago my bike was knocked down (while parked) by car, and excluding broken and scratched fairings and indicator, two light on dashboard (speedo) seem to be not working... I believe someone already had such problems, so i need an advice- what kind of light are those? Where can I buy some? I really hope those are not welded in...

Thank You for the answers!!!

there small bulbs. i think these are accessible by removing the back of the speedo unit and you can get to them, to check size which you can get from most bike shops/halfords or similar

Right it's been a while since I've had to replace bulbs in the speedo and cant remember exactly what bulbs are fitted but I think they are 5mm capless 286 bulbs possible 3w or maybe 1.7w. If you have more money than sense you can buy them from suzuki for about £4 each!
Be careful of the car ones as their wattage may be higher and therefor may get a bit hot for the speedo.
Another option is fit LEDs just make sure you get decent ones with a good spread of light or you'll get hot spots.

Front fairing needs to come off to get to the back of the clocks so it makes sense to change all the bulbs while it's apart

I fitted green LEDs to my clocks a while back, picture doesn't really do them justice as it the hot spots look really bad but it's just the camera picking them up more

they are RW286 1.2w 12v bulbs, you can get them down Halfords, sometimes called 286/286A T5.

Cheers Mark.

Hey there

Well, it will take some time, to be honest, although the job is very easy... Just lots of bolts

At least I had to take all the front fairings off, as it was uncomfortable, I took off the headlamp as well... Then clocks out, take out back of that, and You will see 8 lamps- 3 are used to light up the clock, other 5 for Oil, indicator and so on... Very good suggestion is to change all at once... There is really no point later on repeating all this job, because it takes some time I had to repeat everything after two weeks, because another light decided to die... Good luck

Second the LED's
Work out about £1.05 each posted. Yet to rebuild the front to test, most LEDs are becoming cooler running as the technology is accelerating in development
