Yep! This time next week I will probably be unable to walk due to blisters over my feet! At 1930 ish on 5 Nov, I will be walking over hot coals, with bare feet, in order to raise money for the Scottish Cot Death Trust.
The SCDT provide invaluable support to bereaved families as well as funding research into the cause of Cot death and preventative measures as they endeavour to prevent any more families suffering this horrendous lot. I have witnessed the devastation this causes first hand. I'm not ashamed to admit I cry when I think of my experiences and the pain the parents must have felt. Many of my colleagues, nationwide, will have the same experiences. I don't do a lot for charity as I get fed up of being asked to sponsor people but this one charity is one I view to be incredibly worth it. Even if it hurts, the pain will be nothing compared to that of losing a child. 50p, a pound. Every little helps. Please folks, if you can spare me a little, I would be extremely grateful. Done! Good luck Nic! What a great cause! From someone whos tried it, You want to try to walk 'flat footed' and step lightly as if you were walking across light bulbs you don't want to break, while moving as quickly as possible. Running or tiptoe'ing will cause your feet to dig down into the coals and get burnt. You want to walk only on the top of the coals. And make sure your feet are dry! Best of luck!!
