Default Substantial oil leak curvy.

Right then, got a bit of an oil leak as the GMers noticed at the weekend. It's losing the stuff at a fair decent rate, parked up at a pub for maybe 5 mins on the way back from a 100 mile round trip and it leaked a good 5-10 'drops'.

Though I'd have a look this morning and presumed (and hoped) it would be the clutch cover like any other normal curvy but oh no, not for me. Took it off and it looks fine. Image:

So looked a bit harder to try and see where the oil was coming from, the usual suspects the lower bolts on the RHS clutch cover had a very minimal amount of oil around them, nothing to worry about IMO (though the bike had been sat a few days on the sidestand).

Went over to the left hand side and it was absolutely drenched in oil. It's absolutely ****ing everywhere can't pinpoint anywhere in particular it's coming from. I've got a feeling it could be coming from further up and there seems to be oil up to 1-2 inches away from the carbs, there's a fair amount settled on the top of the crankcase.

Tried to take some pics but they're not particularly clear, highlighted main bits.

Any ideas as to how to proceed?

Cheers
Dan

Have you had the airbox off recently? Check the crankcase breather hoses are connected at both ends.

Are the breather tubes connected (can't remember their correct terms) to the air box connected properly, or split, there's a couple of them on the left hand side.

Looks too wet to be just oil mist from the air box, what about the cambox covers

losing any oil?

Get some WD40 mate and a load of cloths and/or bucket of water and soap and degrease that mess. Then look for where the clean oil is coming from. When I was trying to pin point my alternator leak it was a nightmare. Like you I saw a load of wet patches and couldn't tell which one was the culprit. After WD40ing everything to hell and wiping off all the old skank I could clearly see where the nice clean oil was pooling. That obviously won't help you find it if it's a disconnected hose, but if it's coming from the engine it'll make it a darn sight easier.

This. I will bet an entire penny that at least one breather is off.

If not then fallout is right, when the bike is moving, oil from a leak blows EVERYWHERE

I have a condition known as Extreme Fiscal Sensitivity.
Sadly there are only too many people ready to mock my disability and use unfortunate colloquial slang terms to describe my circumstance, which are frankly rather rude and cause me to suffer traumatic episodes and feelings of decreased self worth.
