Average speed cameras - SV650.org

So, going down the m62 today i notice theres the average speed camera things... that are FRONT FACING..

Surely us bikers are safe as we dont have any number plate on the front?

Take the pishflaps on several occasions and they could potentially identify you by your uniquely coloured leather clothing or motorcycle paintjob.

Aye i was thinking that. Cos if they put a photo of me out and the cops in cars recognise me im nackered lol.

Just wondered. But yeh, average speed cameras at 50mph on the motorway.. Its almost quicker going on the A roads

They always are, but theres traffic lights and stuff on the ones im onabout, abit poor.

And its a hell of a lot quicker getting home after a long day at work, going on the motorway, just so boring!

Careful guys n girls although we assume we are safe as average speed cam are normally forward facing I have passed some whilst at work (artic driver) that are rear facing. Sorry for the life of me I cant remember where.

So worth a check before you open her up a start filtering at 80mph lol

Essex police told me they can use the smaller cameras used for monitoring traffic flow to identify bikes.

I read somewhere that if you change lanes after passing the first camera and before you get to the second then they can't register your speed. Some kind of design flaw apparently. No idea if it's true though...

That's nonsense I'm afraid. It comes from when the cameras were first installed and they were only set up to cover one lane. That was soon changed.
