Paraffin/Parasene

Costs next to nothing and significantly more effective at removing grease and grime than many expensive products. Buy it by the gallon at B&Q or similar

then once it's clean with parafin and a paint brush, spray some wd40 onto a cloth and wipe it round the wheels (not tyres avoid brakes), it'll give a nice shine with no streaks or marks

I use Auto Glym clean wheels if there is stubborn road dirt on the wheels.

What do you currently use and how long do you leave before cleaning? I've never had a problem with hot water and a microfibre wash mitt. If i do, i use the above product.

autoglym motorcycle cleaner usually works, or a proper engine degreaser can pull off the really tough stuff

Brake cleaner, Turps, paraffin, WD40, petrol (if your mad enough) all do the same job.
Benzine if your clinically insane (and have a can stashed in the shed)

Most chain lubes do the same and fling quite a bit off the chain, if your looking for one that is a bit better- SDoc100 bloody expensive but good
