Default Sv650s K3 new chain & sprockets diy

thought i would do a thread to let others see you can do it yourself. I bought a kit from here...

http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/s..._sprocket_kit/

And a chain tool

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2008938508...84.m1439.l2649

So 1st of all today i stopped the back wheel from turning so i could loosen the front sprocket nut ready for replacement. Then i got about replacing the rear wheel sprocket, nuts were tight as fook. This gave me a chance to clean up all the areas surrounding the rear shock & the rear wheel itself along with greasing all the necessary parts to ready the bike for the season ahead.

Old sprocket vs new. I posted a picture of the old one the other day & a few replies said it was done but after 27k i don't think it looks bad tbh.

Here's how the rear looks, ready for the next stage of replacing the chain and the front sprocket.

Here's the tool i used & a link to you tube showing how to use it

Just noticed the OEM chain is a DID chain & still cant find the old link to pop out, is there one on the factory fitted chain?

Just grind the head off any pin and push it out. Don't risk using the tool to split it. Easier to grind it.

If you've got the grinder out you may as well just cut straight through the chain

If you bought the chain specifically for the Bike, then it should have been supplied with the correct number of links. It will the say number of links on the packaging, and then you can reference this with the manual.

Too late now mate, upon the advice of others i bought the whole thing. 27k of wear on that factory fitted rear sprocket, which in comparison looks like hardly any wear. I should commend myself on my chain cleaning/oiling expertise. I suppose it gives me a back up in case the new one goes to pot.
