Default Naked top yoke and Renthals fitting advice?

Hi I would like to change the top yoke so I remove the clip on bars from my 2004 SV650s. Can any one please help and give any points to look out for with the conversion.
Like the length of the cables, also will the wiring be ok and will itreach the new bars. I was thinking of using Renthal bars.

I did a bar swap on my K3 and wrote up a thread about it. You can have a look, but most of the photos have gone missing. I suppose I should stop being lazy and edit them back into the pages!

Have a read and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Get some switch gear extensions from Bibio, you can re-route apparently, but the extensions give you more wiggle room to raise more should you wish.

Longer brake lines are a good idea, not worth risking it.

I also got the clutch cable from a DL650 and throttle cables and housing from a DL650 also, they are very long compared to standard. Mine are looped round the airbox. No idea if the standard will be long enough.

Took me a weekend and fannying around to get mine done.

The DL650 Clutch cable is a great idea and has given me a huge amount of space to route it smoothly in a gentle arc that keeps clutch action silky light.

I extended my loom myself by splicing longer wires into the loom and wrapping them with electrical tape. It took a while, but the end result looks OK and by using a good quality wire and soldering iron, I got good joints.

The throttle cables on my bike are custom made. When I first fitted them, I made a mistake and they felt terrible. After some tweaking and sorting I finally got them set right and since that day they have been perfect. If I had to fit them again, I think that I would actually take the throttle bodies off rather than try to fit the cable while they are in the frame.

The brake lines I used are braided steel and work a treat. Again I went for a custom length from my local custom shop and paid a really good price for them. It pays to shop around and talk to the old boys in the less well known work shops.

With the risers I used, the standard mirrors are even more useless than they were to start with. When I can afford it, I will be looking into longer armed units because I am fed up with seeing my elbows.

Good luck finding a Naked top yoke, they are rare, but do pop up occasionally.

Snap.

I went with http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wezmoto-Su...item20d0f887eb They'll make them longer if you ask, for no extra charge.

I didn't go the naked yoke route, I drilled mine http://forums.sv650.org/showpost.php...2&postcount=15 the s yokes are cheap on ebay for if/when returning to standard when I move on. V-Strom or Tiger I'm thinking in a year or so.
