I've been offered a set of Diablo Supercorsas (SC2 front, SC1 rear) race scrubs which have done one 1-day meeting for £50. I'm possibly looking to put these on my SV650, but bare in mind I don't do track riding, I only ride on the road. I know they aren't going to last too long if I'm commuting but I figure for £50 it can't be too bad? Or can it?
Any advice or people's experience on similar situations would be appreciated. I'm concerned they will be poor on the road as they won't heat up quick enough and potentially be a danger to me. Cheers |

Cracking tyre in the dry, don't even bother trying in the wet/damp/mildly moist. Will maybe last 1-2k. Not bad for £50 but be ready to buy a new set next month or so.

Are you going to be fitting them yourself? If you are just commuting then anything black and round that stops the rims from running along the road will do, and if you squeeze 2k out of the rear then it's a bargain, providing you haven't got to pay someone else £20 to fit them....
Very few people ride hard enough on the road to get any real benefit from track rubber, and as has already been mentioned in anything less than perfect conditions they are actually a liability. You also need to bear in mind that where rear race scrubs have plenty of life left in the centre, fronts have generally lost their profile, so not that much fun if you're planning on riding hard on them. |

To get you by they'll be fine for a while. Not much fun in the cold of the UK winter though, they aren't designed for low temperature or wet conditions.
Take them for £50 and re-sell for double that, especially if they've only done 1 meeting and are in reasonable shape. Plenty of track day riders out there that will benefit from these. |
