I'd like to get my Hyundai Terracan remapped for economy. I don't care about speed, and I'd even be willing to sacrifice some bhp for the ultimate in fuel economy.
I was speaking to a guy who owns two garages whilst in a jacuzzi (don't ask) and he said that he could do it personally for £470. He said he's done a 3-year course so it'd be the best, and he'd actually write the map himself rather than copying it, but it still seems quite steep. Anywhere else trusted that I could get it? I live in Swindon, but would be willing to travel a bit for it. |

Thanks guys! Any others? I need to be able to trust them! Hopefully, if my CO2 emissions per kilometre decrease enough by adding an economy remap, I may be able to lower my vehicle tax from £475 a year....

Generally the way a remap works, is by making the engine more efficient. Increasing the BHP/Torque making the engine work less in order to achieve the required speed/acceleration - therefore resulting in an increase of mpg.
Of course, any increase in MPG is normally eaten up by an increase in insurance premium. As far as I'm aware, your car tax cannot be lowered, as the co2 emissions is based on the manufacturers book spec no the individual requirements of each car. Have you considered a tuning box? I had one on my astra (the vauxhall community swear by them). Take a look at DTUK. |

I can't see it standing up tbh! I've seen many occasions where main dealers have reflashed the ecu when performing servicing etc which has wiped a remap.
