Default RST - Any good?

I was just wondering what you guys thought of RST stuff.

Last year I bought my first lot of bike clothing. I bought RST gloves, Paragon III textile jacket and jeans/trousers

First, the stitching came away from the valcro on the gloves. Replacement sent, different model of glove, still RST. Whilst the stitching is in tact, the valcro has hardly any stick.

Jeans worn in the crotch, buckle came off the front. Also replaced.

Zipping up my jacket this morning, only goes up half way, so I take a closer look and the zip is coming away!

So 4 pieces of RST stuff, 3 returns and 1 not too happy with quality. I do look after things I buy, especially when it cost nearly £400 in all.

Have I been unlucky or is this typical RST crap quality?

i'd say you've been unlucky pal, i have had my rst 2 piece leathers for over 18 months and had 2 crashes on them and there is nothing but a scrape, the zips work perfectly and is all intact

My rst leathers have been great, survived an argument with a car door and the Tarmac and only minor scuffing. The boots on the other hand are ****e - only 18 month old and half of left sole is hanging off!!

Had my Tractech boots for over a year, they've got some minor wear like the red piping around the RST logo coming off the sole but apart from that they've been spot-on and survived two offs perfectly. I've also got a Slice leather jacket, textile jacket & leather trews, nothing to complain about yet but these are a bit younger than the boots and yet to have an off.

Some items are fairly 'cheap' when compared to some manufacturers so I wouldn't expect them to last forever...but it's nice when they do!

I have rst textiles. The trousers are textile with leather panels where it matters... Generally pleased with them however the inner has ripped. The textile jacket is fantastic. Really pleased with it. Not let me down yet and has all the features I would want.
I ordered rst tractech boots but it appears I hav cankles... Cos couldn't get them zipped passed my ankle
But I love my sidi ones all the same

Default RST - Any good?

Recently bought the Slice 2 piece leathers, so far very happy with them with no issues but they are my weekend gear so don't get that much use, I have another set of leathers which are less figure hugging I use for getting to work so I can wear my jeans under them.

When I was looking at my first proper gear, I was advised that RST have been given the nickname rip shred tear, due to the quality not being very good. That was 2 years ago, so may have changed, but sounds like it hasn't.
