Default Hit by a van.

I was riding to work this morning, I stopped about 10m away from the back of this van making sure I was well within sight of his driver's side mirror. He then proceeded to reverse. At this point I was using the horn to it's fullest and had nowhere to go as there were cars parked on the opposite side of the road.

I managed to stay on the bike, still doing my damnedest to get the driver's attention. He eventually stopped and got out and proceeded to recite our most favourite phrase ever.

He admitted liability on the phone to my insurer but remains adamant that he checked his mirrors.

Now for the sympathy followed by criticism followed by an argument. In your own time, carry on.

1. Oh no! What a bummer, my deepest sympathies are with you.

2. What were thinking stopping there? You brought it all on yourself.

3. Anyone who disagrees with me is a ****** ******* ****!

Gadammit. Some people need more eyes.

Or a brain to process the input.

Surely no-one can argue that you could have done any more? You held back so you were visible in his mirror and sounded the horn when it became clear he was reversing into you - saw a police biker fail to do both of these on an episode of Emergency Bikers.

Then again, if you had spent the past six months in the gym doing reverse running on the treadmill with heavy weights in both hands, you would have been able to furiously back-pedal at 20mph and dodge him. Just sayin'.

Gutted dude! WTF though!! Is it still ridable?

Now to pick the event apart, as you requested ...

1. In what world would you stop 10 metres behind a van?
2. Why was he reversing 10 metres?

Once you've adequately answered these questions to my satisfaction, you may receive additional sympathy.
