Default GSXR recall

Thought it would be best to punt this up here as there are one or two hiding on here. All owners affected will be contacted by letter in due course.

Covers almost all GSX-R's, 04+....

"All new or Used 2004* to 2013 GSXR models"
*1000 2005-2013
750 2004-2013
600 2004-2013

"Suzuki Motor Corporation has instituted a safety recall campaign to replace the front brake master cylinder. The brake piston inside the front brake master cylinder of some motorcycles may not have received adequate surface treatment to prevent corrosion. Corrosion of the brake piston generates gas, which may not be adequately purged from the master cylinder due to the side position location of the reservoir return port. To ensure customer safety and satisfaction, dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder and brake fluid.

Technical Service Bulletin:
Servicing information regarding this safety recall will be available in a Technical Service Bulletin the week of October 28, 2013.

Parts Availability:
Dealers will be able to order the necessary parts to perform this recall campaign beginning approximately the week of November 4, 2013. Adequate supplies of parts will be available at that time to ensure your ability to service all your affected units. Your dealership may immediately resume retail sales once the recall campaign is completed.

Not what I was expecting!!

I thought some Japanese bloke in a factory had opened up some dusty boxes at the back of the workshop and found the tubs of grease they were supposed to be putting in the bikes for the last decade...

Default GSXR recall

Doubtful Chris, recalls are usually done based on VIN so the dealers can charge it back to the manufacturer. Unless you know who the shocks came from and they are still the registered keeper you and prob all converts are stuffed. Plus the registered keeper will prob need to take it in.

Additional info:

I posted this info on a local bikers page on FB, and someone has said they contacted out local dealer who advised that people will get a letter from vosa and then once you have the letter you can complete the recall.

I've got a K5 1000 but I've put a Brembo master cylinder on it.....however the GSXR one ended up on my SV. Not sure if this is going to be worth all the bother...
