I just recently got myself a lovely nick pointy.
Going to be commuting every day. Now ive been advised to use a form of corrosion prevention because winter roads suck. But which is the best? ACF-50? FS365? Mucoff? Any advice would be splendid! |

ACF-50, little and often.
Most efficient is to get a large bottle (just under a litre?), usually with a small squirty spray bottle included, costs about £30 but will last much better than the aerosols (my last one was from Wemoto). Useful to keep a rag for wiping over, keep it in a jamjar with a lid so you're not throwing the stuff away, it's expensive.

When the salt first goes down, scrub the bike head to toe, cover everything in acf50 and then don't touch it until the spring. If you ride in a lot of wet weather and feel the need to reapply, repeat the process. That's what I do. Excellent excuse not to bother washing until spring.

I used the scottoil 365 last year and that did a good job of keeping the sv corrosion free. Not sure how it compares to acf50 price wise though

I'd agree with Fallout. I clean my bike thoroughly before winter really sets in, cover every bit of exposed metal (apart from brake discs) liberally with ACF-50, then leave it until Spring.

24 k miles in three years - Acf50 regularly and rear shock looks the same as it did the day i got the bike.
Messy job putting it on, gonna get the pump action bottle next time, aerosol is a pain. Corrosion block grease from same folks is very good for protecting bolt heads. Aquamarine colour is weird but works excellent. Spend an hour with a wee artists brush and is worth the effort to keep bike looking nice.

I did use FS365 for a couple of winters and although it did a good job it wasn't as cheap to use or as long lasting as the ACF50 I now use. Cheaper to buy a bottle of FS365 but the ACF50 goes much further and doesn't need re-applying as often.
