Default Protect a bike

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you guys had a protect a bike storage?

I was thinking of getting a bike barn but then I noticed someone mentioning a bike safe (airflow I think were the ones people were talking about but they no longer make them).

I then found this one

http://www.protectabike.co.uk/product-info.php

Anyone had any dealings with them?

My insurance have confirmed they treat a bike safe as a garage (just waiting for them to confirm they will treat this particular one as a garage). Building a garage don't think is really an option with planning.

Thoughts?

Whoops, pasted into the wrong thread

I went for a DIY standard metal shed (12x10), anchored to the ground with bolts/treated 2x4, all in including the concrete base for about £500. Enough room for 2 bikes, deep freezer and a rotovator and lawnmower with spare.....use ground anchors if you want to secure fully

edit: prices have shot up in the last 2 years, but this is the sort of thing I got: http://www.shedstore.co.uk/garden-sh...-shed-10-by-12

Does your insurance count that as a garage?

Talking Re: Protect a bike

The only problem with metal sheds is the condensation, left my bike in mine for the first winter, covered in mould when i pulled it out, even covered all the metal parts in GT85, but seat, grips, fairings were all mouldy.

After a cold night and a sunny day, you could wipe 2 pints of water off the roof panels, had an ingenous drainage system of ice-cream tubs and tiewraps. Heath Robinson would have been proud.

Had to line the inside in 1" insulation foam with the tinfoil on one side, So price in the cost of fully insulating it.

They were using the term outbuilding and I explained exactly what it was (metal anchored into concrete).

If my bikes were parked outside in the elements it would be covered so it makes no difference, I don't live in a bad neighbourhood

Had a little condensation, especially after putting the deep freeze in there but no mould yet...I use the bikes now and then when I can too so that must help...I'll keep a close eye on things now though!
