Lights, everything else works fine, no spark at either plug, other than intermittently. So, i think there's a common issue somewhere affecting both coils.
anyone else seen this, or have any pointers? C. |

If it's both plugs at the same time, and you're sure that they're dead most of the time then the wiring diagram is your friend.
Assuming the battery is in good health and turning the motor well, and that you don't have an immobiliser, I'd examine the common components of the ignition. There is a pulse generator on the left side of the motor which signals the position of the crank. This feeds out a green and a white wire. This then changes to a green & white/blue wire up to the ignition unit. The ignition unit feeds a common orange/white positive to both coils, with the coils having their own dedicated -ve (white rear, black/yellow front). The ignition switch in the ON position should also connect the orange/red from the ignition unit to the earth (black/white from ignition). I would start checking those connections are all good. Jambo

Ok, looks like the ignition lock is stuffed. the 2 wires that are supposed to have 100ohms across them...Don't. Total open circuit, so looks like i have found my problem. New lock on order and on the way.

My guess is, it's probably the orange/red wire mentioned by Jambo.
I'd do a continuity test on that...loom side to wire it goes into ECU(or is it the CDI S Squid ![]() |

Now resolved.
Combination of issues, intermittent connection via the starter relay, and a duff ignition switch. New one, £35.40...Gotta love ebay. All running fine now. Thanks guys! |
