Default LED indicator resistor problems

Hi all. Quick question..... I installed rear LED indicators on my sv about 2 months ago they came with resistors and flashed at correct flash rate however I have just purchased the exact same ones for the front and installed in exactly the same way, including the risistors however I now have fast flashing indicators as though I installed with out using the risistor. Any ideas????

Blown resistor I'd guess.

Replace the indicator relay with one that works with LED's

Perhaps the resistors simply aren't the right value. Fitting one instead of a bulb probably keeps things within limits, but fitting two might go outside this.

Ditching the resistors and replacing the relay with an LED compatible one is definitely the simplest solution.

Are they different on the 2009 models?

Ok so little update, I went back to shop I bought indicators and resistors from and they tried some other brand new resistors and still same problem so all 4 resistors work perfectly but for some reason this still hasnt fixed the fast flashing has anybody else chaned all 4 indicators to led??? If the relay is only answer which is the correct one for the sv650 k9 2009 how many pins ? And where is it situated??? Help would be really great thanks everyone

Hi. I changed all four indies on my 2004 pointy which Bugster now has. I also encountered problems and ended up with the correct relay for LED's which DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM and behaved most erratically so I fitted resistors on the front indies only and all was well again. Don't ask me why, but it worked. I have a spare relay for the indies and if you can establish that it is the same as the one for yours (seven pins, located under the seat) then it's yours for a fiver plus postage (it is the same as the one fitted to (now)Bugster's bike).

Hi Mark,
Had same issue as you. Supplied resistors did not work. This has been covered in previous posts and I gave the correct (or near as damn it) resistance required for this issue.
Just get yourself some 50p resistors (W22 6R8 5%) and wire one of these into each indi circuit left and right turn (site them so they do not touch anything as they get hot!). Wire them across the pos and neg as though you are short-circuiting them. Fred's you're Bob, all well with flash rate, hazard warning, etc.
Hope this helps.
