Default Pointy (K5) small crack in fairing

I want to get this repaired, I was thinking a DIY job would probably do the trick. Shot term main concern is I don't want it to get bigger! If I want to make it look prettier in the long run that can come later. Just getting it fixed solid is priority!

Has anyone here ever repaired such a crack or got it repaired at a shop and how much did this cost if done by a professional?

I don't know if anyone has ever tried re-enforcing a fairing using this technique, might be a bit tricky if the area is a little flat but its interesting none the less.

for reinforcing i melt pipe gauze into the plastic. after welding up the crack using plastic weld rod or cable tie heat the gauze and then drop it onto the part you want to reinforce. finish the job by laying some fibreglass on top.
