Has anyone done a bar convertion on a points s? If so can you tell me which cables i will need to change and what bike you got them from. I'm looking at doing mine. I will be buying the cnc rises and my own bars so just need to know which cables i need. Or if they can be re routed. Cheers

I used the clutch cable from a DL650 and had custom throttle cables made by a local garage. I also extended the wiring from the switch gear.
This is my build thread, which may help you. |

Thanks, No sure I want to have them on such a long clamp, I was hoping to re route my throttle cables and just buy a new clutch cable. already have the brake lines so that sorted.

give Matt a call (CNC) i'm sure he will sort you out with new throttle cables.
although people have used the shorter (OEM) cables it's best to get the proper ones and be done with it. something everyone else fails to mention is the extension of the switchgear cabling and most people bodge this as well. do it right do it once. |

I had the full kit off Matt for my L2,this included new throttle cables, but ran the old clutch cable at the back of the top yolk instead of the front and found no reason to re route it anywhere else, bought some s/h switchgear and cut and soldered the wires accordingly and gave them an inch or two of slack, tyrapped looms to bars!job done!!!

I suppose it depends on the height of the risers and the bars you use, mine are Renthal lows, but my kit came with new throttle cables which are well long,if the bars are not too high re routing them through the hole in the other side of the frame may well be enough,it's a bit tricky trying to get the nipples back into the bottom of the throttle cable carrier but just need a bit of patience !!!
