Hello fellow bike lovers.
I'm sure my bike normally has a temp of the mid 80's. Just out for a ride now though, stuck in slow moving town traffic after fueling up, and noticed the temp was in the high 90's. Got to traffic lights and it went up to 105! Got going again, and while stuck behind lorries doing 30mph it went down to the high 90's again. Got some open road, going between 50 & 60mph and the temp fluctuated between 83 & 90. I've pulled over to look it over. I can't hear a fan, but can't remember ever hearing it before. I've never thought of it before! All fluid in the bottles are full, and the radiator is hot all over. Is this normal? Any advise is greatly appreciated. But do bear in mind I have the mechanical know how of a two year old! A slow two year old ![]() |

Sounds about normal to me - that was also on a K6. I'd wait until one of the tech gurus answers though

IIRC the fan doesn't kick in until around the 105C mark.
On a hot summers day in stop and start traffic mine regularly spikes up to ~100C Edit: I'm on a K6 too |

Same for my old K5, it would hit 105 before the fan came on. OP, you could do a manual switch if it bothers you ![]() |

Same as above, in hot weather the bike hits temperatures of 100C+ in slow traffic, fan kicks in about 105C.

As Jambo, once suggested to me.
Make sure your fluids are topped up, if they aren't the sensor for the fan to kick in will not be covered by any water. IE it won't work. My K6 spiked at 116 one time. She is regularly checked now, and the fan kicks in beautifully at 101/102.

Thanks for the replies. It does sounds like it's acting normal then.
When you say to check the fluid level to make sure the sensor is covered, where is that? Is it the white bottle you can see under the seat? I regularly check the oil and the two break fluid levels, but only noticed the white bottle yesterday. I'm that dopey! I assume that's the engine coolant? |

I think the switch/Sensor is on the actual radiator, so as long as its full you should be ok.
Wait for someone more knowledgeable to confirm though |

Yep that's the one, fill up that bottle..my guess is you won't have much if any water in it. Mine didn't!!
