Guys,
At the moment I'm searching for a small travel tripod that I can fit in my Oxford tankbag. I've found a Cullmann Nanomax 230T but being a photography chimp I haven't heard of them. Can you guys give me a heads up on them and whether this tripod will be upto the job. I stupidly bought a cheap tripod from Jessops and when I returned it the guy admitted that it was basically rubbish and he wouldn't sell them if he didn't have too.

I'm looking for something that can be extended to a normal height. I've looked a gorillapods great idea but doesn't fit the bill sadly.
Basically the easiest way to put it is I'm a fussy pain in the **se and I really would like normal tripod ability that packs away smaller. Without costing the earth..

I would have thought that a full height tripod that could collapse small enough to fit your bill might be a bit thin and too light to be very effective. Have you discounted a normal size one that can strap to the back seat? I've carried mine about like this with no issues.

I saw one yesterday that folds to 40cm. How big is your bag?

Last night the gaffer ordered me this as part of my christmas. Should be here next week and once I've had a footer with it I can give some reviews. I'll only be using it with a bridge camera. Hoping its decent enough for what I want. The lower legs look a little flimsy but if it opens up to almost full height and it fits in the tankbag when collapsed I'll be a happy bunny.

Complete off the cuff reply as I've barely read the thread as yet so sorry if it makes no sense or isn't useful.
I picked up a manfrotto befree recently for my portable tripod and it is very much capable of full size tripod stuff but still portable. Might not be AS portable as you need but might be worth checking out. Ah, just read THE last reply which says already ordered but I'll post it anyway as it might help someone reading this later on ![]() |

That was it, a Manfrotto Befree. The local camera shop are doing this as a free gift if you buy a 5D Mark III and 24-70 F2.8 Mark II at the moment. If I get my budget through work next week I may buy from them as I'd rather support a local independent store.

Well my wee Hama tripod turned up today and I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this little German tripod is for the money Mrs Chucca paid for it.
Fully extended it comes up to chest height and collapsed down it just fits into my tankbag. I'm only using it with a bridge camera so it should be able to cope. Sadly though Mrs Chucca is determined its a Christmas present so its going away for a month. But for £21 its made a damn fine stocking filler.

Good job finding one that fits the bill. Talking of fit, it would seem the carry case is meant for several models and it looks a bit roomy for the dinky one your better half got you.
