cloudy day up here in Lancashire.
but donned the welding mask and had a look. Yes you can see the crescent shape as the sun is obscured, interesting to see. But hardly worth all the hype TV has given it. Anyone get any good pics.

I was lucky enough to be in the channel islands for the '99 eclipse.
When you are in the full shadow and get a break in the clouds it really is a very cool experience, however, as I was trying to explain to the nursery this morning 85% coverage does not equate to an 85% drop in light. The Sun's a big light source and you get plenty of light reflected about, so it's only a very small area that gets anything dramatic. Where you were today would have made a big difference to your experience. In London, it was utterly forgetful. Jambo
