Default CBR600rr cam chain adjustment

first question is there a good cbr600rr forum? sv650 is great but the cbr.net forum is more for americans wonder if there a good UK one.

main question is my cam chain on my CBR600rr (30K miles) appears noisey. You can clearly hear it when is revvedto around 10k in neutral. I don't rev my bike much unless its in gear and want some power out of it. Being a commute bike top gear and low revs best fuel efficiency.

The question is how big is the job to change it tighten it or change a tensioner. I am not a mechanic. I can read a manual to fix things, change brakes etc, clutch, but opening up the engine is not something I would consider myself able to do.

If i can take off all the air box etc and take the head off can adjustment be made from there?

Or should i just ride it out until it breaks and get new engine?

2006 cbr600rr 30k miles regular oil changes etc

Default Re: CBR600rr cam chain adjustment

Reasonably useless response but I had a 2001 CBR600 f-sport and when I first got it the cam chain was super rattly around 6k rpm. Firstly I was told all of them are like this and to a certain extent all research I did proved this to be true.

Anyways I decided I would change the cam tensioner. Unfortunately while a Hornet had it hanging out the side it was behind the frame on the f-sport and maybe the same on a 600rr. The good news is lack of access is the only hard part. It was fiddly but realistically replacing it is two bolts out, take the old one out then the same two bolts back in to screw in the new one.

anyways I propped up the tank, took off the airbox then fiddled for an hour and replaced it. Taking off the fuel rail would have made access much easier but I could be bothered. And after it was considerably quieter...

There's no decent UK forum, I'm on .net as I couldn't find anything here. They should have the info you need though even if they are based in the U.S.
