Hi All,
just joined the club again with a SV650K3 Naked, learnt something new from searching I didn't realize the K3 and K4 were different. Is it just limited to the Rear subframe end. I need a new front seat and all the sellers seems to sell them on fleabay as K3 onwards when it seems it probably wont fit a 2003 model. Is there a list of what i need to be careful of, is the pillion seat the same?, what about the rear plastics/tail unit etc. Apologies if its been done to death, If its not a great big list then i guess it doesn't matter much although i imagine there will be less supplies of seats knocking about so could be an issue trying to get one. thanks |

I use the Fowlers website a lot and they do list the saddles as having different part numbers for both the front and rear saddles for the k3 and then k4 onwards.
What the differences are, I could not tell you though, but if you know someone with a later bike, you could always try their seat for fit. This is a link to the Fowlers parts page for the SV. https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts.../seat-model-k3 |

Thanks for the link, that will come in very useful. I may just recover both seats but wouldn't mind finding a rear seat cowl but I guess that could also be different for an k3.

Looks like the Pillion seat is the same so the seat cowl should also be.

I had my seat recovered with some lovely leather and also repadded while I was at it, making the whole pilot saddle so much more comfortable. Standard seats can feel a bit like a paving slab after a few miles if you are unlucky, so it is worth seeing a good upholsterer.
Good luck ![]() |

Thanks Bibio, it seems just the front seat, pillion is the same as are the rear plastics which is handy. all the ebay sellers selling seats all seem to say 03 > 07 etc which is clearly not true. think i'll just recover rather than find a spare seat.

Plastic infils under the seat are different on the K3. Rear huggers are specific. Pegs/rearsets - I think they changed from K4 onwards. Radiator changed from K5 onwards. K3 exhaust is different to all the rest.

Cheers guys, I didn't realize the K3 was a bit of a limited version until I read some posts on here, I usually end up with the friday afternoon car.
Looks like you can switch to the later subframe without breaking the bank should the need arise. The front seat is serviceable so I'll just get it re-covered. |
