Gsxr brake disc/speedo
Hi all I have a k7 gsxr 600 front end using the sensor and magnets in the discs. I need new brake discs but want some wavey ones the problem i have is finding a set with 8 rivets so I can have the magnets evenly spaced. Has anyone got a speed working with the non standard front discs? Or know if they will work with the 9 rivets?

A speedo healer should sort this out.

Re: Gsxr brake disc/speedo
All sorted now I had a spare set of discs but they rattled a lot. I've fitted new bobbins so they will be alright for a little while as the discs are well within spec.
I wanted black shadow ones as I've had them before on my previous bike (Rsv Mille) and was very impressed with the quality. |

Re: Gsxr brake disc/speedo
i hope you have not used those blackshadow replacement bobbins?
if it were not for luck i would be dead.. no kidding. i fitted a set of them and one came out, was not pretty. if i had been travelling at speed i would not be writing this but as lady luck was smiling on me it happened as i was coming to a stop after just getting on the bike in a car park 2hrs into my holiday last year. i had to go home fit my spare warped blackshadow discs (first set). by the time i got relayed home and fitted the discs it was 5pm i then had to leave Kirkcaldy and go to Durness to resume my holiday and i got there at 12 midnight, 300miles on scottish roads and 1/3 of that was single track in the dark in 7hrs with badly warped discs, so that gives an idea of the kind of speeds i do. i was not a happy bunny. the discs were that warped that the front end was bobbing every time i braked. i fitted the bobbins as the second set of blackshizz discs spring washers had broken so they started rattling. thought it was a good idea at the time. i have come to the conclusion that blackshadow is a geezer sitting at home spouting shizz, the discs he sells are exactly the same ones from china. i will never ever buy anything from them again and i used to praise the discs. no more. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. |

Re: Gsxr brake disc/speedo
Have a look at the discs Garynortheast got for his SV and see if they do one for GSXR, its a chinese Ebay seller, but the quality was top notch. I bet they do.
Gary was impressed with them & still is after many miles.

Re: Gsxr brake disc/speedo
must have been a c clip fail. cant see it coming out otherwise. i was a bit dubious about the quality of the c clips and should have got my own proper spring steel ones.

Re: Gsxr brake disc/speedo
Just a thought but none of us on here have the capability to make much comment on the quality of discs we get.
Heat treatment and composition of the steel.... not something you can determine in your kitchen. We are all basically sticking them on and having a guess based on how well they last (or don't) in wildly differing conditions.
