Curvy won't idle

Hi

Having a bit of a carb fun today.

Bike wasn't starting so I checked plugs installed fresh battery still no joy.

Removed carbs, found them in a very sorry state.

I've cleaned with carb cleaner and air all jets etc, and the carbs them selves. Set float bowl height. Dialled in standard mixture settings 2.5 turns out on both cylinder.

Bike starts now but only on choke. As soon as I put the choke in or touch the throttle it stalls.

Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like it is running weak, check for air leaks around the joints.

Oh, OK. When you removed the carbs, you disturbed some joints that should be - and were - airtight. It seems most likely that they aren't since reassembly. My experience is from all kinds of engines over many years and not specifically the SV, but you just need to be sure that the carb fixings are tight, but not over tight so they leak now and that any tubes are re-attached.

You probably don't need special skills to repair the problem, just the ability to put back together correctly what you took apart. Failing that, you will have to take it to a dealer.
