Hi,
I have a 2000 SV650S and understand there is a Fender Extender kit for the front wheel arch to minimise spray onto the engine. Is there an alternative kit which provides a plate to protect the leading cylinder head and spark plug? Thanks, |

I use a fender extender but I've also made a rubber flap from a car floor mat and attached it to the tie bar across the front of the fairing lowers.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Is the Fender Extender quite good then? |

Not just good but absolutely essential I’d say. Modern front mudguards are a triumph of form over function!

Hi,
That's really good to know, thanks. I presume it requires drilling of the existing guard to fit? Thanks, |

Some folks drill and bolt or screw them in place, but mine has been on for nearly ten years and held in place with black, rubberised windscreen sealer. It’s never moved.

I used silicon sealant to fix mine to the guard. Clamped it overnight and held it in place no problem

I once made 'temporary' fender extenders for two SVs out of 2" rain gutter, due to a VERY wet ride out. Held on with gaffer tape, they worked really well. In fact the one fitted to Yorkie-Chris's bike lasted 3 or 4 years! Unfortunately, I don't have a photo. It was certainly 'alternative'
