Unhappy Oh poo, I need some bits

Tally ho friends, I hit a patch of diesel on a roundabout yesterday and decided to have a little lay down on the road, dropping my precious Sylvie and generally looking like a learner trying to turn a 125 for the first time!

Our local fire crew arrived and scrubbed down the road, to prevent other riders from the same fate. But given that this is the roundabout that serves Sainsbury's and their petrol station, it will only be a matter of hours before some other C*** spills yet more diesel there.

Once the ambulance released me (our local hospital is a revolting plague pit, reminiscent of a Victorian workhouse in both ethos and cleanliness) from their frankly excellent care (although I was teased by the medic about riding Suzuki and not his modern Triumph, which apparently never crash!), my daughter loaded my bike into her work van and took the old girl home for me.

I am now horrified to discover that replacement parts are somewhat expensive and difficult to come by.
I am looking for a replacement foot brake lever for a K3-S and the cheapest I can find on the bay of E, is £120 for an original part or £42 for a very ugly pattern part with a folding toe bar.

Do any of you have a recommendation for a reasonably priced parts retailer? I am near Bristol and Fowl-ups, who are out of stock with no date of when parts are likely to return to their shelves.

As for me, I am now hobbling around the flat like a pensioner and it looks like I will be using the mobility scooter a lot more for the time being.
My Shoei helmet took quite a bump to the side of my head, but I was amazed not to have been more hurt and did not even have a head ache afterwards. Sadly, that is close to £900 down the pan and I simply do not have the money to replace it with a like for like unit. My insurance covers my bike only, but I don't want to lose my no claims for a measly brake lever, although the excess is £250 anyway. As for my leathers, the armour took most of the force of it, but they barely look scratched, probably because I slid on the diesel, rather than abrading like cheese on a grater.

Ouch Jayne! Sorry to hear about your prang, but very glad you survived to tell the tale. Hope you don't have to spend too much time hobbling about!
Can't help with parts supplier recommendations I'm afraid, but someone here may have a better idea of where to get the brake lever at a sensible price.

That is great, thank you. I didn't think of looking for the whole assembly.

Falling off is always annoying, but I am an old lady now with a long list of medical problems, so getting back up with such little pain was a bonus. The joys of being in my fifties, but at least I have not given up on life and taken up knitting like some I know! I still prefer my Black Metal gigs and screaming loud music!

I have found a unit for £25, but for a K6. I am fairly sure that the parts are interchangeable, but before I stump up the cash, am I right on this?

Not sure about that Jayne as I own the faster (curvy) version.

Sorry to hear about your off, diesel is the biker's oldest and most vicious foe

There are parts catalogues here for the various SV650 model years, they should give you a cross reference.

Thank you everyone for kind words of support.

There was one funny moment immediately after it all happened. A pedestrian got a little cross with the car behind me, thinking that they had knocked me off. I very quickly said that it was spilled diesel and the pedestrian and the car driver both had a smile and then helped me lift my bike back up and pushed it to the side of the road.

I have ordered some new parts and a second hand brake lever. My dear wife informs me that I have a broken indicator on the same side, so that will be replaced in a couple of days when it arrives. Annoyingly, I have my MOT next month and my bike does less than 500 miles between them because I am not able to ride very often. Now she looks a little scratched and battered, rather than the pristine beauty (yes, of a pointy!) she was.

As for the diesel, it was annoying and impossible to see because of the direction of the sun. Luckily the ambulance crew called the fire service and they arrived very quickly to clean it up. No doubt it will be back again by now. Thanks Sainbury's petrol station!

I took a bite out of my bar end weights, which are originals & give excellent damping on the Renthal bars. Looking at replacement parts on e-Bay, they seem to have a lot of aluminium... Do these provide the same level of damping?
