Hi all sorry if this been covered to death but picked up some calipers that might refurbish if i can get them to work with the SV.
They are old Tokico 4 pots from a Kawasaki ZZR1100 (ZX11) The bolt spacing is 63mm, the mounting threads are same as SV M10 x 1.5mm. I have seen adaptor plates to fit GSXR and CBR calipers, not seen any for Kawasaki to fit the SV. Also seen cheaper brackets for the VStrom 650, will they fit the SV? No point refurbishing the calipers if they will not fit anything my old Fazer blue spots are the best part of tha bike, just trying to see if i cna upgrade my sons SV on the cheap |

TBH if the standard calipers are properly serviced and maintained they are easily a match for the SV's requirements.
If you are intent on spending money to upgrade the stopping power then I'd say braided s/s lines, decent pads, s/s pistons and good quality brake seals correctly fitted with red rubber grease would be the better option. While they may not have the eyeball popping power of modern calipers, they are, as I said more than adequate for the SV, especially when combined with the SV's fearsome engine braking.

Not wanting to waste cash the oem brakes need serviced and needs pads, sol as i have the 4 pots and no rreal use for them was looking as a similar cost option, the forks are being upgraded with KTecj linear springs and YSS emulators, with the damper rod modifications.

As gary said above the 2 pot ones on the bike are fine is properly serviced. The problem lies with the master cylinder as they are pretty poor even when new. If you can get a brembo or similar quality mc it goes a long way helping the braking power. I have a gsxr 750 k4 frontvend on my sv along with 4 pot radials from the k6 and 320mm discs and its farrrr too much stopping power. Unless your doing track days or racing then too much braking can be a bad thing especially if you use them in anger and give them a ham fisted pull, which usually results in ending up on the tar.

Cheers for the input, was just a thought when I had the calipers here my other bike (Fazer 600) has way better brakes in terms of feel and power.
Yes i get the SV has huge engine braking, this bike is for my son he rides too fast for my liking and wants to do track days so thought this might be a safe upgrade |
